Recent Aquisition

I just wanted an excuse (as though I need one) to take a picture of this pretty girl, Madame Alexander’s Morning Ritual Cissy. I have a vintage Cissy doll, even though I’m not much of a vintage doll collector. I had wanted one of the new vinyl dolls, but so many of the recent releases have been…well, I’m not the only one who hasn’t found them appealing.

A friend who knew I wanted one with plain, pretty makeup, and about my preference for naked dolls that I can dress, had mentioned the “Yardley” Cissy as the perfect one for me, but then she went a step further and found me one! How awesome is that?

I’m sure that, one of these days, I’ll get her out of the box and get you some better pictures. She’s telling me she’s fond of rockabilly styles…

    Hi, Susan

I too have this Doll, the Yardley Morning Cissy Doll.
    I was curious about something-
does your also appear that one eye is a bit larger than the other ??
I have looked at old auctions on Google for this Doll and it seems most have this issue.
If you don’t mind, please let me know re your Doll also.
    Many many Thanks

    • I don’t really see it on my doll. If she does, the difference is so slight that I can’t tell if there’s actually a difference, or if I’m just seeing one because it’s in my head now, if you know what I mean. If they do, then they all should have that, because they should have come from the same mold. It certainly seems possible, since original doll sculpts are usually made of clay first (though that’s changing with advancements in digital sculpting and 3D printing), and, like anything handmade, they are apt to have slight variations rather than perfect symmetry.

    Hi, Susan

Thanks so much for your reply.
I tend to be picky and my Husband even took his Caliper tool which measures to a tee
and the difference was so slight as he explained you wouldn’t even see it with the Human
    eye.
Of course when it comes to Dolls I notice everything.
However, my Seventies Strut Cissy Doll’s eyes are the same size, I had him measure those too.
Maybe it was the run with the Yardley Ritual Dolls it happened too.
    Thanks so much again !!!
