My Smocked Valentine was the first smocked dress I made for Blythe. It was finished on January 24, 2008.
On the right, The Spider was my 2008 Halloween special design. The embroidered text around the skirt reads, “Welcome to my parlor,” said the spider to the fly. “‘Tis the prettiest little parlor, that ever you did spy.” (It’s a big skirt!) Smocked in metallic thread with lots of hand embroidery and beading, including the fuzzy spider that dangles from the smocked web. The dress came with the black, orange, and silver striped stockings shown. I was so crazy about this dress, there was even a video for its release.
As the name would suggest, Overindulgence was the most elaborate and expensive of the dresses I’ve done for Blythe. I guess I was in some kind of Gone With The Wind phase and stricken with embroidery madness.

Hand embroidery decorated the edges of the cuffs and collar. The collar also had tiny, embroidered roses.

Uber Alice was an Alice in Wonderland inspired set that was loaded with details. The underdress of blue sateen had a white collar and cuffs with hand-embroidered edging, and a functional, pearl button back closure.
The base of the pinafore was smocked on a delicate, machine made eyelet. The straps were then custom machine embroidered using heirloom sewing techniques and threads to match the hand smocking and embroidered flowers.
The pinafore had a snap closure in the back, covered with a bow tie.
